Ridikulous

You know what I think is ridiculous? The lack of good female singers in the music industry.
Nope, I'm not talking about Kesha (I can't think of anyone worse to be honest). I'm talking about real, good music, with talented singers and musicians.
I mean, when I think about all the music on my iPod, there are so few female artists on there. There are some great ones, like Florence Welch, Regina Spektor, Ingrid Michaelson, Zooey Deschanel, Ellie Goulding, even Lady Gaga (I'm not a huge Gaga fan, but she did have some great stuff before this album).

 Regina Spektor is so cool

What about rock music though? I mean, how many people take girls groups seriously?! Compare the ratio of a famous good guys rock band to a good girls rock band: probably like 400 to 1. Even like being a band member in a rock group is pretty rare, with some exceptions like Meg White from The White Stripes, Debbie Harry from Blondie, etc.

I'm going to start a rock group and blow you all away with my skills. Not. I can't even play the guitar :P

OH, and listen to this song. It's great.

Oh, and you know what else is ridiculous? The fact that I have summer chemistry homework. Ten months of homework wasn't enough? You decide to take away my only two months of freedom?! I mean, just because I don't have a life during the school year, doesn't mean I should be expected to do homework over the summer.

Oh, and today's Casey Anthony verdict. That was especially ridiculous. But I won't go into that.

  1. Do you know who I love? Florence and the Machine... love her voice. Adele is great. Rachael Yamagata is pretty cool too... maybe if everyone posts with a female singer or two you'll have a bigger favorites list by the end of the day.

As for Casey... while everyone is stunned, we have to remember that we only know what the media told us... and thankfully it isn't the media's job convict or set free... it is the jury's. It is sad to not have a final conclusion, but I have to keep reminding myself that I wasn't in there to hear the facts.

  2. Beautiful song! I really enjoyed it. I had never heard it before, but it sounds very sweet. I love her falsetto.

Anyway, great post. Although, I think you should go learn how to play the guitar and live up to your principles! Get that band together and make a difference in the music world, if you want to. It's never too late to try.

Now that my inspirational message of the day is complete (I've tried to stop, but the urge just overtakes me), I'll say goodbye and have fun finding new music! I don't have anything to contribute (I stopped listening to music with lyrics anymore and listen to classical and jazz instead), but I'm enjoying watching anyway.

    Have a great day!

  3. Hmm... let me think... there's Adele, Ellie Goulding, Lady Gaga and Rihanna but for rock there's Paramore, Garbabge and The Pretty Reckless?

Though in my personal opinion guys are better rockers than women - Biffy Clyro, Nickelback, Foo Fighters, Green Day etc :)

  4. Ooooh...I like Regina Spektor too! Actually I used to be a big time fan of hers. I used to listen to her songs on and on and then I think I got fed-up for a while. But I still listen to her songs but not that often. I love Soviet Kitsch. and Samson is such an amazing song. She's got a beautiful voice.
There are a lot of amazing female singers. I love Zooey deschanel and Florence Welch too. Then there's Laura Marling. Do you listen to her songs?

I Love Meg White too. She's so cool. Too bad that the band doesn't exist anymore.

  5. Psh. Anyone in all of history who has ever claimed to be a fan of Regina Spektor ought to hide their eyes and bow their heads in shame when in my presence. My undying love for Regina Spektor is more inconceivably enormous and infinite that one could possibly imagine.

I love Florence, too, but I have to add that I also hate Lady Gaga's guts. Sorry.
