MLIA, anyone?

So this year my school gave a select group of students in my grade laptops, because we're in all AP classes and they felt we needed them. I decided to see which websites they hadn't blocked yet and found that My Life is Average (MLIA) hasn't been blocked. I realize sometimes the stories are a bit far-fetched, but they're always good when you're stuck in AP American History and need something to laugh about during a lecture. Here are a few posts I found the past few days that really made me laugh:

Today, I was in the library. For fun I decided I should go check out the religious section. I picked up a bible and the old man next to me yells "THE MAIN CHARACTER DIES!" and wobbles away on his cane. MLIA

Today my younger brother accused my uncle of being racist. My uncle replied calmly "I'm not racist, I hate everyone equally." MLIA

Today, my mom told me than when I was little, I walked up to a pregnant woman and said "Tsk tsk tsk. This is what you get when you eat the watermelon seeds!" and walked away. I was an awesome little kid. MLIA.

Today, my grandmother made snowballs and attempted to sell them to our neighbors. MLIA

Today, as I was walking out of the bathroom to my biology class, I saw some guy riding on his Heelies. As he turned, I realized it was the physics teacher. MLIA.

Today, while my family was eating dinner over my grandparents house the phone rang. It was Vonage asking them to switch their service my grandpa politely informed the sales rep he doesn't own a phone. Somehow the man took that as a perfectly acceptable answer and apologized for bothering him. MLIA

When I say something funny, my 3 year old brother will slap himself in the head, laugh, and say "your like a potato!!!!" I have no idea. MLIA

Of course, all credit goes to whoever wrote these.

The excitement of Midterms!

Ah, how I love virtual sarcasm.
Midterms start tomorrow for me. I'm not too nervous, seeing as I don't get too nervous regarding tests, but I certainly am not too excited. Tomorrow is an easy day for me: English in the morning, French in the afternoon. Two of my best subjects. I'm a pretty good student, but I'm just not a good test-taker, which sucks because people who do well on the classwork but suck at tests have to slave work just to keep up that high grade. Like, I retain information but I can't seem to access it in different scenarios on tests. The plus side is getting some extra sleep on days when I only have afternoon exams, which means I won't have to wake up at 7 AM to get to school.
I actually wouldn't mind going to school too much if it weren't for getting up early; that just tears me apart. I can literally see differences in my mentality and attitude between when I wake up at 6 AM to go to school after going to sleep at 12 AM and when I get a good night's sleep and wake up at 10 AM. I feel like a walking zombie because my schedule consists of school for most of the day, go home and relax for an hour or two, and then homework till the late evening hours. It drives me absolutely insane. I've heard college is much better because the schedule isn't the same every day. I pray junior year ends sooner and that senior year flies by so that it can come fast.

Music taste?

I should probably get used to updating more...
So I decided if I'm even going to think about talking about music occasionally, I should probably list some of my favorite bands. Oh by the way, has anyone noticed how the term "band" isn't used as frequently as it used to. Thirty years ago the music industry was made up of bands, while solo artists weren't as common to come by in the mainstream. Now it seems to be the opposite. Anyways...
This summer was really a revolution for me in terms of music. I used to be that girl that listened to Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Don't get me wrong, I still like Taylor Swift, but I fell in love with the good ol' Britpop of today, starting with the more hard prog rock Muse (GAH! how I adore them), and then progressing to bands like Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Radiohead, Franz Ferdinand, etc. Now I don't even know how to label my genre. I would recommend these bands to anyone, with Muse obviously at the top of my list.
Oh by the way, since this is a new blog, hopefully those lost visitors who come upon my blog won't be turned off by my music taste and refuse to ever visit again. I'll spare you the pain!

First Post!

Hi, I'm Anna. I've been wanting a little personal spot somewhere online to leave my mark, but I can't quite decide what its going to be about. I'm only 16 so I thought it could be stuff that interests the intelligent 16 year old. The typical stuff, you know: Chuck Norris jokes, current bands out there, the hottest new celebrities. (I'm completely kidding, by the way). Aha, I've made up my mind! It shall be a music blog, with the occasional random pun or joke that I find humorous. Or not.
